About Us

Let me Introduce Myself

Hello, my name is Deirdre Wetherill, your official tour guide here at Glin Castle and Gardens. Thank you for logging onto my website showcasing the secret gem in West Limerick that is Glin Castle.

Stately Grandeur

This hidden hideaway on the border of Limerick and Kerry overlooking the mighty Shannon River is the perfect setting to explore the Fitzgerald's family's 700 year history of trials and tribulations. Coupled with the stately grandeur of the house are three beautiful and distinct gardens: formal, woodland and walled.

Let Me Be Your Guide

I will bring you on a tour of the castle and gardens and tell you the story of the 24th Knight who began this gand adventure, to the last Knight, Desmond, who see you standing proudly on the ramparts of the castle [see picture right]. Lesrn about his wife, Olda, and their daughter, Catherine, both passionate gardeners themselves.

Your tour of the castle gardens ends with cream teas and scones served in the formal gardens or in the castle dining room overlooking the Shannon.
